In January 2019, news of the David and Claudia Harding Foundation gift of £25m to St Catharine’s College, of a total of £100m to the University of Cambridge, received global coverage. The gift supports postgraduate and undergraduate scholarship at St Catharine’s and the first five Distinguished Harding Postgraduate Scholars joined the College in Michaelmas 2019. St Catharine’s College scholars Claire Marie Guimond, Timothy Welsh, Nadene Dermody, Marc Gotthardt, and Hannah Lucey met Mr David Harding (1979) in October, at a meeting with the Master of the College, Professor Sir Mark Welland and the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Toope, along with the other scholars from other Colleges.
