Your impact: David Kovacs

Each year, the College awards more than 200 grants to support student research and travel. As with bursaries, almost all funding for such financial assistance comes from the philanthropy of our alumni community. In 2019, David Kovacs travelled to Pasadena, Calaifornia, to study at Caltech, with the aid of a College travel grant.

“I spent the summer at Caltech as part of the Caltech/Cambridge exchange programme, doing research in the field of computational chemistry. I was especially enthusiastic about this opportunity, as it enabled me to visit the United States for the first time.

“My travel award helped me, by allowing me to explore beyond Pasadena with weekend trips to San Francisco, San Diego and Sequoia National Park. It was a fruitful trip, both academically – I have since submitted a paper on my summer work – and culturally.

“I am grateful for the help of the Haller Fund. Without its support, it would not have been possible to have so many wonderful experiences this summer.”
